Statement on Population Stabilization

In 1965  I was a resident representative of the Population Council in Taiwan where I initiated with John D. Rockefeller III a Statement on Population by World Leaders that was presented on Human Rights Day, 1967, to UN Secretary General U Thant with the signatures of 30 heads of government.

After founding Population Communication in 1977, I authored the Statement on Population Stabilization and was honored when Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi presented the Statement to UN Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar in 1985 on the 40th anniversary of the United Nations with 40 heads of government signing.

In 1995 President Suharto presented the Statement on Population Stabilization to UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali on the 50th anniversary of the UN, with the signatures of 75 heads of government.
